Welcome back?
April 18th, 2008 at 2:41 pm
Man, talk about being an ass. Arrington is in true form criticizing Hugh for dropping off the grid and then coming back. Man, who is he to say what you can and can’t do on or off the net? Sheesh. And he says he doesn’t like “publicity stunts”? Please.

It should be http://gillmorgang.techcrunch.com — just add an l to the existing URL in the post (unless they fix it)

Ack. That last comment was supposed to be on the TC announcement. How’d I get here? >.> I think Jason did it.

I would expect more out of a group of grown men, no names mentioned. But what the hell kind of show is this? The content is completely clouded by emotions, interruptions and controversy.
April 18th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
Hands down the most boring thing ever posted to the Internet.
I can’t figure out what is more ludicrous…..the people participating in this lunacy or the lemmings and wannabes that listen to this? I wanted to burn my computer and put a fork in my eye after the first 5 minutes. I was p-ssed that I even wasted time trying to figure this out…much less write this comment.
I can’t fathom why anyone would listen to this garbage.
This was a TC announcement? This is supposed to be a “big deal?” THIS?
I proffer that no one is brave enough to say anything about these guys for fear of being a “blog pariah.”
What the hell is Nick Carr doing on this thing? I actually respect his writing. Anyone associated with this joke is suspect.
I don’t get it. I really don’t. Am I missing something?
This is just a 93 minute circle jerk.
Wow. THIS is the glory of the Internet? These are the “Industry experts and thought leaders?”
Wow.
I’d like to see Shel Israel puppet mock this show. If LF has balls (and I think he does) he’d call out his friends on this travesty of a podcast.
This. Is. A. Big. Joke. Of. A. Show.

Isaac - so would you say you’re not a fan?
April 18th, 2008 at 4:29 pm
I just don’t get it Michael. I just don’t get it.
No anger here - just confusion.
April 18th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
After the awkward intro when Calicanis joined it sounded like someone was chewing on their mic.
Then I waited ten minutes and was bored to death.
April 18th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
that’s ok Isaac. I don’t get your startup either, but if i trash it I’d try not to use the term “circle jerk.” That sort of relegates you to troll status. CEOs should have more presence than that.
April 18th, 2008 at 5:16 pm
Fair enough. Wrong term was used. Retracted via this comment. It was inappropriate.
How about circular talking with no purpose? Thats what it sounded like.
I expected more from a group of professionals - and I was deeply disappointed - not only in the production - but in TC for hyping it - thus the rant. I expected more from a TC production.
The blog world is a free-for-all (rightfully so) and everyone has a voice (boring or not) and the gang has their rights to rant via their podcasts.
Its not my cup of tea and I felt like commenting. I’d be surprised if I was in the minority.
Trolls don’t usually use their real names.

In the show, and later on twitter, i said it was the worst gillmor gang I’d ever heard. The problem was that there were waaaay too many people on it. If you read Steve’s post above, he invited on a lot of the old guests since this was the first time he could use the Gillmor Gang name again. Too many people were talking at once, and there was no flow. I bailed out in the middle.
So, yeah, this episode sucked. badly. but the other 1,000 episodes, or however many there have been, didn’t suck. In fact, sometimes they are pure magic.

I hope Steve doesn’t get dragged down by the TC trolls.

Excellent show. I’ve been listening to Steve Gillmor’s podcasts for a couple years now and, even though they can be frustrating to listen to sometimes, I can tell you that it does grows on you. I the candid conversions and interactions between the guys are fascinating. I also listen to the News Gang (a daily show that Steve does).
Congrats Gillmor on the Techcrunch hosting thing…. I hope it draws much “attention” and success your way!
April 18th, 2008 at 5:58 pm
Interested podcast…. different, but interesting. A lot of smart and connected people on the show.

Hey Steve,
Congrats but get Mike to pull his finger out of his arse and design you a nice graphic!
Plus, when are you going to split the shows again, everyone is getting two confortable, time to piss them off I say.
Brumski!

I remember the Gillmor Gang back from IT Conversations. That is some years back. It maybe about the time when I first started listening to “podcasts”
Anyway, it’s good to have the original name back in effect. I stopped looking and lost contact with the show for a while. Only recently have I rediscovered the latest incarnation of the show “The Gang/News Gang”.
Congrats and Good Luck

Well done all!
Back in the day, this was a must listen to show. Glad the legal wrangle panned out, and you’re back “on air.”
April 18th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
So relieved that the “last Gang” was not the last Gang. You had me worried, Mr. Gillmor.
For those of you new to the show, it’s a bit of an acquired taste but give it a chance. You’ll be glad you stuck with it, trust me.

I have to echo Bruce’s sentiments. Its easily the best podcast in my iTunes collection.

This is just awful. Sound quality, talking over each other, etc. It gave me flashbacks of really bad business teleconference calls.
April 23rd, 2008 at 11:06 pm
guys remember ICQ? almost half a bill and no revenue … business model will emerge if there is users … especially informed users …

is this the best place to watch?
