- php has run on IIS since 6.0, so not sure how ground breaking php hosting is. The bigger play is MS has built the arch over last 10 years to allow any language; static or dynamic, compiled or interpreted. If you think about it, that was no small feat.
- MS still has the developer story. Apple has a lot of catchup in that area.
- Live Mesh will totally jive with enterprise developers. Enterprise developers have major needs to deploy and sync. Mesh will remove a lot of custom code and reinventing the wheel.
- Biztalk labs is seperate from mesh and came before mesh. biztalk labs is more about hosting code and workflows in the cloud. Mesh is a sync platform. They are seperate solutions with different goals, but they could be used together.
- Windows 7 will include mesh tech imo. It is a no-brainer to include it and use it. I see WindowsUpdate using it and the registry and things like Application VMs. Having some simple social apps built with it and having the library shipped with the OS distro. The problem with shipping it in the OS is same issue they have with shipping .Net. .Net libraries are updated a lot more then the OS and libraries such as this are more appropriate for the app developer to distro with their app as they take depencencies on Framework version and Mesh version.
