Short answer: Obama is going to do this his way, which means Hillary will not be on the ticket. He’s already running a 50-state strategy; I’m sure that Obama believes he can get a few swing states without Hillary.
She also represents the politics of the past; he’s not going there. As he said in a speech, it’s time to close the door on the Clinton era.
