RE: Troops in other countries.
The troops were left in Europe after WWII to stand as a speed bump in the Fulda Gap against the Soviets.
I was there in the end of the 70′s as one of those, we were NOT ambassadors, I know that I was among the stereotypical “Ugly Americans”, they do us no favors by their presense.
The troops are also in place as a projection of power, and superiority. Being sure that other countries understand that the US can deliver force anywhere on the planet.
RE: Palin and being a mom
She and the GOP want it both ways, they want to tout her motherhood as a defining charistic, why should that same thing be off limits as far as critisim? I’m not suggesting that the personal attacks that have nothing to do with fitness or issues are good. Where her motherhood shows her beliefs, and policies, they should be fair game.
